If golf is your thing, you have come to the right place. To start East London Golf Cousre overlooking the Indian Ocean has hosted six South African Opens, which confirms the high esteem in which the course is held. East London is one of the oldest golf courses in South Africa and has retained over the years a position of high recognition as one of the best Championship courses in the country. On a typical round of golf you will come across monkeys and a family of impala, resident on the course, which is also home for the Knysna Loerie and other species of bird life.
Next to the Chintsa Bay Beach Club is the R2bn 572 hectare Chintsa River Golfing Estate currently under construction. This project consists of 650 up market houses, an 18 hole championship golf course, a luxury hotel, conference centre, village-style retail centre and extensive sporting facilities. The initial phase 1 planning approval was part of a joint application with the Chintsa Bay Beach Club.
Also on the East Coast Resorts Jikeleza route,
the Sanati Golf Estate is also coming to the
end of it's planning approval process. This
is being developed by the Billion Group, the
same developers of the 60,000 metres shopping
complex less than 10 minutes from the Jikelaza
Route. Other notable golf estates are also mooted
and planned around East London by both local
and international developers to augment existing
courses in the area.
